- What is the difference between regular and toric contact lenses?
Toric contact lenses are designed for patients with astigmatism. These lenses are generally a little more expensive than regular, or 'spherical' contact lenses. Toric contact lenses have to be specially made to sit on the eye in a very specific way, depending on the astigmatism. Regular contact lenses can rotate freely without altering the vision of the wearer. If a toric contact lens turns or rotates, the wearer's vision will not be as clear.
- How do Biofinity Toric contact lenses correct astigmatism
When a patient has astigmatism, it has to do with the shape of the patient's eye. Astigmatism requires that a second type of correction be added to the lens, and this correction must be turned to a specific orientation on the eye. Biofinity Toric lenses are custom-weighted to turn and sit on the eye just right, to properly correct the wearer's vision.
- Can I sleep in Biofinity Toric contacts?
Biofinity Toric contact lenses are FDA-approved for extended, or overnight-wear, for up to 6 continuous days. After this, they should be left out for at least one full day, to give your eyes a break. After the day out, Biofinity Toric lenses can again be worn for another 6 days. This '6 in, 1 out' routine can be repeated for up to 4 weeks, before the lenses should be thrown out and replaced with a fresh pair.
